The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has announced a new strategy to provide affordable housing in the national capital. Under this scheme, citizens will be able to book one-bedroom flats priced between ₹15 lakh and ₹20 lakh. This initiative aims to extend affordable housing options to a wider range of people beyond just the economically weaker sections (EWS).
Expansion of Affordable Housing
Previous Plans: Previously, DDA’s housing schemes included one-room flats for the economically weaker sections (EWS) priced between ₹11 lakh and ₹25 lakh. However, many EWS flats, especially in areas like Narela, remain unoccupied.
New Strategy: In response, DDA has decided to open up the booking of these affordable flats to all citizens. Continuous meetings are being held by the residential department of DDA to finalize the details and strategy for this new housing plan.
Booking Process
Upcoming Scheme: Within the next month, DDA plans to launch a new housing scheme, with booking processes for over 500 flats. The final prices will be announced when the scheme officially opens.
Current Scheme: Currently, DDA offers a ‘First Come First Serve’ housing scheme. This includes booking options for 1 BHK, 2 BHK, and 3 BHK flats across LIG, MIG, and HIG categories, available on the DDA website.
Future Plans: Another housing scheme is expected to be launched around Diwali at the end of the year, providing more opportunities for citizens to acquire affordable homes.
