As the winter season gradually recedes, several states in India are experiencing the impact of rain due to the Western Disturbance. The Meteorological Department has forecasted rain in the hilly states as well as the plains of North India.

Rainfall Predictions in North India

States like Delhi, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, among others in North India, are expected to witness rainfall over the next few days. Alongside rain, there is also a possibility of hailstorms. Specifically, on the 19th and 20th, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, western Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana-Chandigarh might experience hail at various places.

Eastern Uttar Pradesh is forecasted to have light to moderate rain with thunder, lightning, and strong winds (ranging from 30-40 km/h to 50 km/h) from February 20th to 22nd.

Yellow Alert in Madhya Pradesh

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in various parts of Madhya Pradesh is expected to remain adverse for the next four days. Light to moderate rain is predicted across different regions, accompanied by strong winds.

Thunderstorms and hail are also possible in some areas, especially on February 20th, for which a yellow alert has been issued.

Snowfall in Hilly States

The Meteorological Department reports that most high-altitude areas in Jammu and Kashmir experienced fresh snowfall overnight, and continuous rain for the second day in the plains has impacted daily life on Monday. The Jammu-Srinagar national highway and the Srinagar-Leh route have been closed due to fresh snowfall and rain.

The Gulmarg resort in northern Kashmir’s Baramulla district received 40 cm of snowfall and 41.9 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. Snowfall is continuing in Gulmarg, Gurez, Pir Ki Gali, Shopian, and other high peaks in the union territory since the morning.

Rainfall in Rajasthan

A new Western Disturbance affecting Rajasthan is likely to bring light rain to various areas in the coming days. There is also a forecast of hail in Bharatpur.

An active Western Disturbance has created an induced circulation system over Pakistan, leading to relatively strong surface winds of 30-40 km/h in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions and light rain or drizzle in northern parts of the state.

Weather Forecast for Rajasthan

On February 20th, there is a possibility of light rain with thunder in the Jodhpur, Ajmer, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions, and hail in some places in the Bharatpur division.
