Forget Metro. Delhi Set To Open RopeWay Cable Car System on Yamuna Route.

In a significant step towards enhancing urban mobility and reducing traffic congestion, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has proposed the construction of a ropeway or cable car system over the Yamuna River. This initiative aims to provide a pollution-free and efficient transportation alternative for commuters crossing the river.

Project Details

The proposed ropeway system will have cable cars with a capacity to carry up to 50 passengers each. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena, has instructed DDA to conduct a survey and submit a detailed project report within a month. Once operational, the ropeway will serve as a faster and environmentally friendly option for crossing the Yamuna.

The Yamuna River divides Delhi into two distinct parts. Thousands of commuters cross the river daily, primarily using overcrowded bridges, leading to heavy traffic congestion.
