Suzuki is gearing up to enter the electric scooter market this year with an electrified version of its best-selling scooter, the Access. The debutant electric model, likely to be named e-Access, follows the company’s strategy observed with the e-Burgman, indicating a similar design and eco-friendly features.

Development and Design:

The e-Access has been developed in collaboration with Suzuki’s engineers in Japan. Despite Suzuki’s ongoing tests with the Burgman Street electric variant over the past two years, it’s the e-Access that will first mark its presence in India.

Mirroring the approach taken with the e-Burgman, the e-Access will maintain the styling cues and body components of its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart but will feature a distinctive ‘blue’ paint scheme to highlight its environmental friendliness.

Specifications and Features:

While specifics like motor capacity, battery details, and riding range are yet to be disclosed, the e-Access is expected to match the performance of a typical 125cc scooter. To maintain affordability, Suzuki plans to equip the e-Access with basic features, avoiding more extravagant ones.

Market Strategy:

Suzuki is closely monitoring competitors such as Honda and Yamaha to fine-tune its market entry strategy. The exact launch date will be decided based on the developments and offerings from these rival brands, ensuring Suzuki remains competitive in the evolving electric scooter segment.
