ANRF Selects 7 E-Nodes for MAHA-EV π
On Monday, the National Research Foundation (ANRF) announced the selection of 7 e-nodes for the Mission for Advancement of High-Empt Areas on Electric Vehicle (MAHA-EV). These high-impact projects will help improve India’s electric vehicle ecosystem.

The chosen institutions include:
- Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
- International Advanced Research Center for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials, Hyderabad
- National Institute of Technology Suratkal
- Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
- Indian Institute of Technology BHU
- CSIR-BHU
- CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute
- Indian Institute of Electronics Engineering Research, Pilani
Focus Areas of MAHA-EV π―
The MAHA-EV mission targets critical challenges in the electric vehicle sector and promotes innovation. The Ministry of Science and Technology has outlined three main areas of focus:
- Tropical EV Battery and Battery Sale (TV-I)
- Power Electronics, Machines, and Drive (PEMD) (TV-II)
- EV Charging Infrastructure (TV-III)
Collaboration and Proposals π€
The initiative received enthusiastic responses, with 227 proposals from educational institutions, R&D labs, and industries. Two selected e-nodes will focus on EV battery technologies, while the other two will enhance charging infrastructure.
Supporting Startups and MSMEs π
ANRF will also introduce a ‘small business deep tech innovation’ program to help startups and MSMEs develop real-world applications. Additionally, the ‘AI-for-Sense’ initiative will use AI to enhance research in physics, chemistry, and biology.
