- Tata Motors has been testing the CNG variant of its popular Nexon SUV for several months.
- A white, top-spec model was spotted at a CNG filling station near Pune.
- The Nexon CNG will retain the design and appearance of the existing ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) model.
- Expected to launch by the end of this year.
- Tata Motors recently launched the facelifted versions of the Nexon and Nexon EV.
Design:
- The Nexon CNG will feature LED turn indicators on the front fascia, similar to the current ICE model.
- Split LED headlamps and new bumpers are part of the design.
- New alloy wheels and Y-patterned LED tail lamps are included in the rear.
- Twin-cylinder technology, as seen in models like Punch and Altroz, will be implemented.
- The twin-cylinder setup provides ample boot space.
Features:
- New dashboard with a 2-spoke multifunctional steering wheel.
- 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and digital console.
- A sunroof will be offered.
- Most features will be similar to those in the ICE model.
- Power and torque output differences will be noticeable due to the CNG engine.
- Expected starting price is around Rs. 8.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
Engine:
- Powered by a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine.
- On petrol mode, it generates 118 bhp power and 170 Nm torque.
- In CNG mode, power output is expected to drop to 100 bhp and 150 Nm torque.
- Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission initially, with an automatic transmission option to be added later.
