MCD Parking in Delhi to Become Completely Cashless
New Delhi, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has announced that parking in the city will become completely cashless in the near future. The parking fee for four and six-wheelers will be paid through Fastag, while for two-wheelers, the fee will be paid through UPI, QR code, and National Mobility Card.
The move to digitalize MCD parking will provide direct benefits to the public, enabling them to avoid paying excessive fees. The initiative will begin with 22 parking lots, comprising both multi-storey and ground parking facilities, in the first phase. The corporation plans to issue a tender and establish a policy soon to expand cashless parking to all MCD parking lots across Delhi. This will eliminate human interference in the parking process, save time spent on issuing parking slips, and eliminate disputes with contractors regarding payment amounts.
Currently, the MCD operates a total of 400 parking lots through contractors, including 18 multi-storey and 382 ground parking facilities. These lots accommodate approximately 86,353 vehicles daily. The first phase of the cashless parking initiative will include 11 parking lots from each of the two clusters. Fastag will be installed on four-wheelers, while two-wheelers will have payment options through UPI, QR code, and National Mobility Card.
