New Elevated Road Planned in Greater Noida
The Greater Noida Authority has announced plans to construct an elevated road from Shahberry to Crossing Republic in Ghaziabad. This road will be 16 meters wide and aims to alleviate the significant traffic congestion currently experienced in the area. Authority officials are in favor of this project due to the ongoing traffic pressure, especially on the route from Sector-4 Shahberry village to Crossing Republic, where long jams are common.
The proposed elevated road will measure 3,500 meters in length. This week, the detailed project report (DPR) and the final feasibility report will be released, providing more information about the project.
Traffic Issues and Proposed Solutions
The road leading to Crossing Republic has been facing heavy traffic, prompting the Greater Noida Authority to pursue a permanent solution. Two design options have been proposed by the CRRI team after a thorough study. One design features a 16-meter wide road, while the other suggests a 14-meter width. Officials mentioned that the narrower option would not affect any houses, whereas the wider option might impact two to three homes. However, the authority is committed to minimizing any potential damage.
The DPR will outline the project’s cost and construction timeline. Once approved by the authority’s board, it will be forwarded to the government for further approval before work can commence.
Widening of Route from NH Nine
In addition to the elevated road, efforts are underway to widen the route leading to Shahberry via National Highway Nine. The GDA vice president is currently negotiating between landholders and builders to facilitate this process. A meeting is scheduled for later this month to address these issues.
While the route is generally 45 meters wide, there is a 260-meter stretch near a petrol pump where the full width is not available. GDA officials are working to resolve this dispute, although they have not provided specific details about the ongoing schemes on this route.
The General Manager of Projects at the Greater Noida Authority, AK Singh, stated that the CRRI team will submit the DPR for the Shahberry Elevated Road and the final feasibility report this week. Given the traffic situation, a width of 16 meters is favored, and the authority is committed to ensuring that no one is adversely affected by the project.
