Flipkart: Increasing Efficiency with EVs
Flipkart has reported significant efficiency gains through its adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). The company claims that EVs have not only reduced last-mile delivery costs per order but have also improved delivery speeds by 20 percent compared to traditional fuel vehicles. This transition is focused on enhancing operational efficiency while also meeting sustainability goals.
Flipkart: Targets Core Cities
Currently, around 75 percent of Flipkart’s EV fleet operates in major cities such as Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai. The company continues to face infrastructural challenges in expanding its EV fleet beyond tier-1 cities. To address these issues, Flipkart has partnered with the Adani Group to establish 38 dedicated charging stations equipped with 190 chargers in various tier-2 cities.
Building a Sustainable Ecosystem
This infrastructure aims to facilitate a seamless transition to EVs in cities with growing delivery demands, creating a more accessible EV ecosystem. Hemant Badri, SVP at Flipkart, emphasized that combining the EV fleet with charging infrastructure sets a benchmark for sustainable practices in the industry. Meanwhile, Flipkart’s Head of Sustainability, Nishant Gupta, highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships to achieve an all-electric last-mile delivery fleet by 2030.
