As the Bakrid festival approaches on June 7 in India, Muslim communities are making final preparations and purchasing goats of premium breeds. Interestingly, Rajasthani goats have captured the fancy of Dubai’s elite, especially the Sheikhs, who are importing these prized animals in large numbers ahead of the festival.

Sheikhs Choose Rajasthan’s Finest for Their Grand Feasts

Known for their lavish lifestyles and elite preferences, Dubai’s Sheikhs prefer goats from Rajasthan, often choosing them over other global breeds. These goats are brought in for grand banquets and religious feasts, and they are willing to pay lakhs of rupees for each premium animal. Traders report that over 1,000 goats have already been flown to Dubai ahead of Eid-al-Adha this year.

Goats Fed with Cashews, Almonds, and Milk—Priced Up to ₹1.5 Lakh

The standout feature of these goats is their premium diet, which includes cashews, almonds, green fodder, barley, and up to 10 liters of milk daily. Some goats weigh as much as 120 kilograms and can stand nearly seven feet tall. In Rajasthan’s largest goat market, Ajmer, more than 10 elite breeds like Jafri, Sirohi, Sojati, Marwari, Jamunapari, and Barbari are available, with prices soaring as high as ₹1.5 lakh per goat.

Special Flights Replacing Sea Routes for Urgent Deliveries

Earlier transported via ships, these goats are now flown directly to Dubai for quicker and safer transit. Traders from Dubai are increasingly visiting Rajasthan to select the animals in person, boosting cross-border demand for India’s elite livestock.
