New Delhi: The Mother and Child Care Unit being built at Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini will have a capacity of 461 beds, making it the largest mother and child center in the capital. The seven-storey center equipped with modern facilities is currently under construction and expected to be completed in the next 6 months.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

The under-construction center will feature 20 ICU beds for women and pregnant women in critical condition. Additionally, two newborn units with 24 beds each are being built. One unit will cater to newborns born in Ambedkar Hospital, while the other will accommodate those born elsewhere. Each floor of the center will also have an operation theater, and 30 labor delivery rooms are being constructed.

Larger Than AIIMS Mother-Child Center

Upon its launch, the Mother-Child Center at Babasaheb Hospital will surpass the capacity of the mother and child block at AIIMS, making it the only center in Delhi with 461 beds. AIIMS currently has a capacity of 427 beds in its Mother-Child Center.

Staffing Requirements

The new mother and child center will require approximately 1000 staff members, including doctors, para-medical staff, nursing staff, and security personnel. The hospital has already submitted a proposal for the necessary staffing to the headquarters.
