Delhi Weather Forecast: Light Rain to Continue for 4 Days. More Trouble on Roads to Come.

Residents of the capital can expect the wet spell to linger a little longer. According to the meteorological department, the light rain that refreshed Delhi on Tuesday is likely to continue for the next four days. Showers were recorded in various parts of the city during the day, bringing welcome relief from the summer heat and creating a pleasant atmosphere.

On Tuesday afternoon, the weather office issued an orange alert as dark clouds gathered over the city. By late morning, most neighbourhoods were blanketed by overcast skies and intermittent drizzle. Official figures show that the maximum temperature was 35.2 °C, about one degree Celsius above normal, while the minimum settled at 26.7 °C, marginally higher than the seasonal average. Rain gauges registered 4.6 mm of rainfall in Palam and around 3 mm at the Ridge area.

Meteorologists say the current conditions are due to moisture-laden winds and localised convection. They forecast partly cloudy skies for Wednesday with the possibility of thunder and light rain in the afternoon or evening. The pattern is expected to persist through the weekend, giving Delhiites several more days of cooler, humid weather.

While the showers have dampened dust and cleaned the air, authorities caution that sudden downpours could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas. Commuters are advised to carry umbrellas and plan for potential traffic delays during afternoon thunderstorms. Farmers and gardeners welcome the gentle rain, which provides much-needed moisture without damaging crops.

Looking ahead, the meteorological department will continue to monitor the system and issue further advisories as necessary. For now, the forecast suggests that residents should be prepared for on-and-off drizzles and mild temperature fluctuations until early next week.
