Car Toe Away Delhi Strict On Old Cars Parked Outside. Government Will Toe Away Vehicles Without Asking.

The Delhi Government has issued critical guidelines to address the handling of over-aged vehicles, specifically those no longer permitted to operate in the city due to age restrictions. These measures are part of efforts to reduce pollution and ensure public spaces are not occupied by vehicles that are no longer compliant with environmental standards.

Key Guidelines:

  • Deregistration of Over-Aged Vehicles: The Government of Delhi has deregistered 5.5 million over-aged vehicles, which include:
    • Diesel vehicles older than 10 years.
    • Petrol vehicles older than 15 years.

The list of such vehicles is available on the Delhi Transport Department’s website:
    https://transport.delhi.gov.in

  • Prohibition on Parking Over-Aged Vehicles: Parking deregistered vehicles in public places is strictly prohibited. This includes parking outside residences, as those areas are considered public spaces.

  • Options for Vehicle Owners: Owners of these deregistered vehicles must take immediate action. The following options are available:
    • Option I: Keep the Vehicle in a Private Parking Space:
Owners can keep their over-aged vehicle in a private parking space that they own. This includes private parking spaces within residential complexes. Shared parking spaces in such complexes are not considered private.
    • Option II: Obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC):
Owners may obtain an NOC to move the vehicle out of the NCT (National Capital Territory) of Delhi within one year from the vehicle’s expiry date.
      • Important: No NOC will be issued after one year of the vehicle’s expiry date.
      • Once an NOC is issued, the vehicle must be moved out of Delhi within one month, or it may still be impounded.
    • Option III: Scrap the Vehicle:
Owners can scrap their over-aged vehicles through the Voluntary Vehicle Scrapping Application available at https://vscrap.parivahan.gov.in
This can be done at any nearby registered vehicle scrapping facility.

  • Enforcement Action: Vehicles found parked in public places, even with an issued NOC, may be impounded by:
    • The Transport Department’s Enforcement Wing
    • New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)
    • Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)
    • Traffic Police

Violators may face prosecution under the Guidelines for Handling End-of-Life Vehicles in Public Places of Delhi, 2024.
