Delhi is set to welcome a new modern railway station near the international airport at Bijwasan. This development will alleviate congestion at the existing major stations: Old Delhi, New Delhi, Nizamuddin, and Anand Vihar.

Station Location and Development

Currently, Bijwasan has a small railway station, but plans are in place to develop it into a major hub. Once completed, this station will facilitate train operations to Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

NGT Clears the Way 🛤️

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) dismissed a petition that claimed the land designated for the new station’s expansion belonged to the forest department. The NGT confirmed that the 1,24,000 square meters area being redeveloped is not forest land, removing the legal obstacles for the project.

Key Features of Bijwasan Station 🏗️

  • Open-Air Concourse: Spanning 12,500 square meters
  • Platforms: Eight platforms to accommodate multiple trains
  • Subways: Four subways for passenger convenience
  • Interstate Bus Terminal: Plans for a 1.24 lakh square meter terminal

Strategic Importance 🌍

Located near the Dwarka Sector-21 Metro Station, the new Bijwasan Railway Station will become a crucial transportation hub. It will offer seamless connectivity to bus, metro, rail, and air travel services, enhancing the overall travel experience for passengers.

Reducing New Delhi Station’s Load 🚦

The new Bijwasan terminal will significantly reduce the crowding at the New Delhi Railway Station. All trains heading towards Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan will operate from Bijwasan, thereby streamlining operations and improving passenger flow.
