For the past few days, Delhi has been covered in thick smog. The air quality index (AQI) has hit 384, which is considered very poor, leading to increased cases of eye irritation and throat infections among residents.

On Sunday, the AQI for the entire Delhi-NCR region reached 380, marking it as very poor. Some areas like Jahangirpuri recorded an AQI of 438, which is severe, while Bawana, Anand Vihar, and Ashok Vihar also reported high pollution levels.

Noida’s air quality was just below the severe threshold with an AQI of 396. Greater Noida had an AQI of 380, Ghaziabad at 426, while Gurugram and Faridabad reported 286 and 228, respectively, which are in the poor range.

The government is taking strong actions to tackle pollution, such as limiting the use of diesel generators, ensuring steady power supply, increasing traffic management, and boosting public transport options. They are also planning to issue pollution alerts through various media.

Delhi’s Chief Minister has announced that 10,000 electric heaters will be distributed to Resident Welfare Associations and security personnel to reduce pollution caused by burning wood and coal during winter.
