Travel between Uttar Pradesh and Haryana is set to become much easier with the construction of the Aligarh-Palwal Greenfield Expressway. The central government has approved this new expressway, which will connect Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh to Palwal in Haryana. Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting infrastructure development.
Costing ₹2,300 Crore
The Aligarh-Palwal Greenfield Expressway will span 32 kilometers and is expected to cost up to ₹2,300 crore to build. The four-lane highway will connect to key expressways, including the Yamuna Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. This new expressway will link seven cities across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi, including Aligarh, Agra, Mathura, Noida, Delhi, Gurugram, and Palwal.
Improved Connectivity for UP, Haryana, and Delhi NCR
According to media reports, the construction of this expressway will alleviate the long traffic jams often encountered near Jattari. A green belt will also be developed along the expressway, contributing to its ‘Greenfield’ status. Once completed, this expressway will significantly improve connectivity between Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi NCR.
Passing Through 43 Villages in Aligarh
To construct the expressway, land will be acquired from 43 villages in Aligarh. Some of these villages include Andla, Arana, Zrara, Tarora, Ainchana, Udayghadi, Lakshmighadi, Mau, Dharmapur, Khair, Rasulpur, Nagal Khala, Resari, Raipur, Sotipura, Kadirpur, Chaman Naghaliya, Bajhera, Hirpura, Khediya Buzurg, Vichpuri, and Hamidpur, among others.
Reduced Travel Distance
The expressway will begin at Andla and interconnect with the Yamuna Expressway near Tappal. Currently, the distance between Aligarh and Palwal is 86 kilometers, requiring over two hours of travel time.
However, with the new 32-kilometer Aligarh-Palwal Greenfield Expressway, this journey will take less than half the time, making travel much quicker and more efficient.
