Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) has been tasked with conducting an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for a new 28 km metro route in Gurugram city.
The ESIA report is expected to be submitted to the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) by January 31, 2024.

- HMRTC has allocated Rs 1.40 crore for the ESIA of the new metro route.
🔗 Connecting Old Gurugram:
- This new route aims to bring metro connectivity to the residents of old Gurugram, providing easy access to metro services from their homes.

- The route received approval from the Central Government on June 8, 2023.

- The route will feature 27 metro stations, connecting HUDA City Center to Cyber City and including key areas like Sector-45, Cyber Park, and Udyog Vihar.

- Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will evaluate the feasibility of operating 2.9-meter coaches on this route, potentially increasing passenger capacity and efficiency.

- Ongoing searches for potential proposals and route adjustments are being made, particularly at the existing Rapid Metro station in Sector-56, Gurugram.
🆕 New Company Formation:
- Gurugram Metro Rail Limited is set to be established to implement the Millennium City Center to Cyber City Gurugram metro connectivity project.
📈 Ridership Surge:
- HMRTC Chairman Sanjeev Kaushal reported a 35.54% increase in ridership this year compared to the previous year, marking significant growth in metro usage.
