In a significant development for the Delhi-Meerut-Ghaziabad RRTS corridor, the second phase of the project has commenced preparations for operating Namo Bharat trains up to Merath South.
Following the successful trial run of Namo Bharat trains from Modinagar South to Modi Nagar South station last Sunday, the focus now shifts to completing the installation of OHE wires up to Merath South, where the trains will undergo further trials.
🔧 Infrastructure and Testing Process
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) spokesperson stated, “To initiate the trial run process, the 25KV capacity electric Overhead Equipment (OHE) from Murad Nagar Receiving Substation to Modi Nagar South was charged.
The trial run covered approximately 12 km from Modi Nagar South to Modinagar South station.” NCRTC is actively implementing the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project across the NCR region.
🚄 Current Status and Future Plans
Presently, Namo Bharat trains are undergoing trial runs to test tracks and traction. The spokesperson mentioned, “Initially, the train is manually operated under the Train Control Management System. The train covered the distance from Murad Nagar station to Modi Nagar South at a minimum speed.
Later, with a slight increase in speed, it returned to Murad Nagar.” The distance between Duhai and Merath South is 25 kilometers, encompassing four stations: Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar North, Modi Nagar South, and Merath South.
📅 Project Progress and Outlook
From July onwards, there has been accelerated progress in track laying, OHE wire installation, signaling, telecom, and electrical work in this phase. With the track laying nearing completion, the project is entering its final phase.
It’s noteworthy that on October 20, the inaugural phase saw the operationalization of Namo Bharat trains from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot station, covering a stretch of 17 kilometers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the train from Sahibabad station with a green flag, marking a significant milestone in the RRTS corridor. 🎉🚇 #DelhiMeerutGhaziabadRRTS #NamoBharatTrains #RRTS #InfrastructureDevelopment
