Progress on Metro Phase 4 in New Delhi

The construction of three corridors in Metro Phase 4 of New Delhi is moving along quite well, with 55 percent of the work completed. Recently, the project gained traction following the green light for tree cutting, which has allowed construction to proceed more rapidly. The overall plan aims to finalize a total of 65.20 kilometers of new metro lines by March 2026. This endeavor includes six corridors, with the current focus on routes that connect Majlis Park to Maujpur, and from Delhi Aerocity.

Upcoming Openings and Connectivity Enhancements

In the initial phase, the first segment of approximately three kilometers from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension is set to be opened soon. This part of the corridor is already complete, and the opening date will be announced by the Union Urban Development Ministry. Following this, the corridor stretching 12.32 kilometers from Majlis Park to Maujpur is also on the verge of completion, with 90 percent of the civil work done. This particular stretch will feature eight stations and is expected to become operational by mid-2025, significantly enhancing connectivity in the region.

Future Plans and Developments

Looking ahead, the goal is to have the remaining sections, including the routes from Aerocity to Tughlakabad and Janakpuri West to RK Ashram, operational by 2026. Notably, there will be underground segments on the RK Ashram corridor, where tunneling work is actively underway. Once completed, this entire metro project will not only improve public transportation across Delhi but will also ensure that various neighborhoods in North-East Delhi, along with areas like Burari and Jagatpur village, are directly linked to the metro network.
