Delhi Metro Partners with ONDC for Ticket Booking
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has made a significant move by partnering with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). This is the first time a major urban transport system in India is collaborating with ONDC, which aims to enhance digital commerce.
Convenient Ticket Booking through Popular Apps
Now, passengers can book Delhi Metro tickets through more than 10 well-known apps such as Charter, Easmiatrit, Google Maps, Highway Dillite, Miles & Kms (via Telegram), Nammayatri, Vanticut, Rapido, Redbus, Tummok, and Passenger Railways. This means travelers no longer need to download separate metro apps or navigate multiple digital platforms.
Enhancing Passenger Experience
With an average of 65 million passengers daily, DMRC’s partnership with ONDC aims to create a seamless, accessible, and user-friendly digital mobility system. The integration with Technology Service Provider Sequelsting AI (SAI) allows ticketing services on various digital touchpoints, including mobility apps, travel platforms, and even Telegram Bots.
Integrated Travel Solutions
This collaboration brings numerous benefits for city travelers. For instance, a passenger taking a bus from Jaipur to Delhi can now book their bus ticket on the Redbus app and also purchase metro tickets for any destination in Delhi directly from ISBT Kashmiri Gate. Similarly, travelers can plan their entire journey using the Rapido app, combining bike taxis, metro rides, and other transport options.
Vision for Future Mobility
Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC, stated that this partnership aims to simplify the metro journey and make it accessible through daily digital platforms. Vibhor Jain, acting CEO and COO of ONDC, highlighted that DMRC’s integration into the ONDC network demonstrates the potential of open digital ecosystems to enhance public service access.
A Step Towards Modern Infrastructure
This initiative not only marks a technological advancement but also signifies a shift towards open digital public infrastructure. By merging physical services like metro ticketing with digital networks, DMRC is working towards providing a more integrated and smooth experience for all passengers.
