In the next few years, the area around Karkardooma Metro Station in East Delhi is set to transform into the largest commercial hub. This development will not only enhance traffic flow but also increase the demand for parking spaces. Keeping this in mind, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is planning to construct an underground multistory smart parking near Karkardooma Metro Station.
🏙️ Transforming Karkardooma into a Commercial Hub
Situated as a major interchange metro station in East Delhi, Karkardooma connects the Blue Line and Pink Line, facilitating daily commute for approximately 38,000 people. While an underground parking already exists, DMRC aims to address future needs by constructing an additional parking facility.
🚧 Tender Process Initiated for Construction
The tender process for parking construction has commenced, and the project is expected to be completed within two years of tender award. Presently, the Delhi-NCR metro network boasts parking facilities at 119 metro stations, including underground and four multilevel parkings.
🚗 Key Features of the New Parking
- Multistory parking covering 6070.12 sqm, including two basement levels.
- Capacity for approximately 170 cars and 100 two-wheelers simultaneously.
- Reserved parking spaces for differently-abled individuals to ease accessibility.
- Charging facilities for electric vehicles.
🚶 Proximity and Accessibility
The new parking, strategically located near both metro lines at Karkardooma, will provide convenience for commuters. After parking, travelers can easily walk to the nearby metro stations.
📆 Timeline for Completion
The tender process for construction is in progress, and once awarded, the parking is expected to be ready within two years.
This initiative not only benefits metro commuters but also proves advantageous for locals, businesses in the vicinity, and addresses the congested parking situation in the area. 🌐
