n a major boost to Delhi-Gurugram commuters, the newly constructed tunnels on the Dwarka Expressway have been opened for trial runs, easing traffic congestion on NH-48. The twin tunnels, connecting Shiv Murti to Sector-26 and towards Gurugram’s Sector-100, were opened to the public on Thursday for one-directional movement.

Trial traffic began at 12 noon and saw enthusiastic participation from daily travelers and long-distance commuters alike.

With both Shiv Murti–Dwarka Expressway tunnel (3.5 km) and the Indira Gandhi Airport–Gurugram tunnel (2.5 km) now operational in trial mode, commuters can expect significant travel time reductions:

Authorities have paid special attention to fire safety, with the installation of high-capacity exhaust systems, temperature-controlled sprinklers, and emergency air suction systems to quickly neutralize smoke and heat.

If a fire breaks out, ventilation fans will activate automatically, and an announcement system will guide drivers to exit safely.
