In a significant development aimed at addressing parking woes, the Mayor of Delhi, Dr. Shaili Oberoi, along with Deputy Mayor Aaley Mohammed Iqbal, inaugurated an automated car parking facility at the Community Hall, Amar Colony (Lajpat Nagar).

This state-of-the-art facility, designed to accommodate 81 cars, promises to alleviate the parking congestion in the bustling Amar Colony market, benefiting both local residents and shop owners.

Key Highlights of the Project:

  • Capacity and Design: The parking structure can house 81 cars, featuring two modules with a capacity of 25 cars each and one module that can accommodate 31 cars, distributed over six levels. The first two levels are designated for 26 SUVs, while the remaining levels cater to 55 sedan cars.

  • Automation and Efficiency: Fully automated, the system ensures that there is no need for manual intervention, making the parking process smooth and hassle-free. The average time taken to park a car is about 150 seconds, showcasing the facility’s efficiency.

  • Area and Cost: Spanning an area of 750 square meters, the project was completed at a total cost of ₹13.47 crores. The investment reflects the commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure and providing a solution to the chronic parking problems in the area.

The new parking facility is expected to boost the local economy by providing systematic parking space, thereby attracting more customers to the market.

Future Implications:

The inauguration of this automated car parking facility is not just a local improvement; it’s a model that could be replicated in other parts of Delhi facing similar parking challenges. By effectively utilizing technology, the city can address one of the major urban issues, paving the way for a more organized and congestion-free environment.

This project is a step towards modernizing the urban landscape and enhancing the quality of life for the city’s residents and visitors.
