Delhi Government Formation Update
After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the elections in Delhi, the formation of the new government is in progress. The announcement for the new Chief Minister is expected to be made on Sunday. The cabinet will consist of a maximum of 7 members, including the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.
Potential Cabinet Members
While the BJP has not confirmed any names yet, discussions about potential candidates for the cabinet are gaining momentum. The cabinet is likely to include representatives from various communities such as Purvanchalis, women, Jats, and Dalits.
Among the frontrunners for ministerial positions are Pravesh Verma, Vijendra Gupta, and Mohan Singh Bisht. Pravesh Verma, who hails from the Jat community, notably defeated former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi. Kailash Gehlot, a former AAP minister, also has a strong claim after winning in Bijwasan on a BJP ticket.
Community Representation
Delhi’s political landscape is diverse, and the BJP is keen to ensure representation from different communities. Vijendra Gupta, who won from the Rohini seat, and Mohan Singh Bisht from Mustafabad, which has a significant Muslim population, are also in contention for ministerial roles.
Additionally, young leader Ravi Negi, who won from Patparganj, has been highlighted in the media after an interaction with Prime Minister Modi, where the PM showed him respect.
Women and Dalit Representation
The cabinet is also expected to include a woman and a Dalit representative. Shikha Rai and Rekha Gupta are two prominent women leaders who won their seats. The BJP secured 4 out of the 12 reserved seats for Dalits, with strong claims from Ravindra Indraj Singh and Kailash Gangwal.
Focus on Purvanchali Community
The Purvanchali community played a significant role in the BJP’s success, winning about 17 seats. Abhay Verma, who won from Laxminagar and is originally from Bihar, is a strong candidate for a ministerial position. Other contenders include Pankaj Kumar Singh and Pankaj Chaudhary.
As the BJP prepares for the upcoming formation of the Delhi government, many are watching closely to see how they will balance community representation within their cabinet.
