As Delhi gears up for the monsoon season, the recent pre-monsoon showers have already given a glimpse of the challenges ahead. Even a brief spell of rain led to waterlogging at 13 locations and tree falls at nine places across the city. While these incidents were reported to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), numerous other unreported areas also experienced significant inconvenience due to water accumulation.

Major Water-logging Zones 🚗🌊

One of the most affected areas was the Pandav Nagar underpass in East Delhi, which faces waterlogging annually. Vehicles stalled in the water, forcing people to push their cars out. A similar situation was observed in Chandni Chowk, where rainwater accumulated on the main road due to blocked drainage systems clogged with debris.

MCD’s Response Team in Action 🚧

The MCD received complaints of waterlogging from various areas, including:

  • Karol Bagh (Pusa Road)
  • South Delhi (Rajpur Khurd Road)
  • North-East Delhi (New Mustafabad, Shriram Colony)
  • East Delhi (Multani Mohalla)
  • Rohini (Sector 15)
  • Outram Lines (GTB Nagar)
  • West Delhi (Hari Kunj, Najafgarh Mitraon, Gaushala Road)
  • Narela (Karala Udyan Pana, Tikri Khurd)

The MCD dispatched personnel to these locations to manage the water drainage and alleviate the flooding.

Tree Falls and Safety Hazards 🌳⚠️

In addition to waterlogging, tree falls were reported from:

  • Regharpura
  • East of Kailash
  • Mangolpuri Industrial Area Phase-2
  • Old Rajendra Nagar
  • Shaheed Bhagat Singh Colony (Karawal Nagar)
  • Nanakpura South Motibagh
  • Pratap Nagar (Gulabi Bagh)
  • Sector 11 (Rohini)
