New Delhi Court Allows Interrogation of Car Theft Accused on Remand

In the car theft case, the court has allowed two accused to be interrogated on remand for five days. Along with this, the court has also accepted a petition of Delhi Police, in which a demand was made to handcuff both the accused during interrogation.

Sources said the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Animesh Bhaskar Mani Tripathi accepted the petition. The court had also given permission to interrogate Mehraj Salmani (age 33 years) and Asif (age 24 years) on remand for five days on the custody petition of the police. Both the accused, posing as cab passengers, snatched the mobile and wallet of cab driver Bijender Shah and pushed him out on the way to the airport, due to which the driver died.

In the custody application filed, the police said that the accused are involved in a heinous act and have prior involvement in the crime, there is a possibility that the accused may try to escape from the police custody, hence the police had sought permission to handcuff them during remand. The court has accepted this petition.
