In the last two years, the prices of CNG had been increased by more than 80 percent.

CNG and PNG prices were cut in Delhi after two years. Indraprastha Gas Limited announced a reduction in the prices of CNG and PNG on Saturday. Now both these will be available cheaper by Rs 6 per kg in the capital. Soon CNG prices will be reduced in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad as well. The new rates will be applicable from 6 am on Sunday.

CNG price in Delhi has now come down from Rs 79.56 to Rs 73.59 per kg. Domestic LPG (PNG) rates have been reduced from Rs 53.59 per cubic meter to Rs 48.59 per standard cubic meter in Delhi. IGL’s CNG rate in Ghaziabad and Greater Noida was till now Rs 82.12 per kg, which will now come down to Rs 77.20 from Sunday morning. Whereas in Noida, instead of Rs 81.17, CNG will now be available at Rs 77.20 per kg. In Gurugram too, now CNG will be available from Rs 87.89 to Rs 82.62 per kg.

CNG price increased by more than 80 percent in two years

In the last two years, the prices of CNG had been increased by more than 80 percent. CNG prices were increased 15 times between April 2021 and December 2022. Explain that from April 2021, the price of CNG was Rs 36.16 per kg. CNG prices were last increased on 17 December 2022.

10 times increase in the price of PNG

Similarly, between August 7, 2021 and October 8, 2022, the rates of PNG increased by 10 times. The overall price increased by Rs 24.09 per standard cubic metre.

Now the price of CNG-PNG will change every month

According to a separate gazette notification of the government on the new formula for determining gas prices (after the change in the pricing formula for domestic natural gas), the minimum natural gas price will be $4 per mmBtu and the maximum price will be $6.5 per mmBtu with a cap. mmBtu.

The ceiling will continue for the next two years i.e. financial years 2023-24 and 2024-25 after which prices will be increased by $0.25 per mmBtu every year. The prices will now be revised every month, instead of being revised twice a year.
