In a statement released on Sunday, the Delhi government stated that schools in the flood-affected areas of the national capital will remain closed on Monday and Tuesday due to the ongoing flood relief camps in schools located near the Yamuna river. The affected districts include East, North East, North West-A, North, Central, and South East. The government has advised the heads of schools in these districts to inform parents about the closure and arrange online classes if possible.
Schools in remaining districts to open with flexibility
All government, aided, and private recognized schools in the remaining districts of the DoE, including North West-B, West-A, West-B, South, South West-A, South West-B, and New Delhi, will remain open from Monday onwards. The heads of schools in these districts have been given the liberty to choose between physical mode or hybrid mode (offline or online) based on the convenience of their students. The circular urges the heads of schools to inform parents about their decision well in advance.
Water level in Yamuna slowly receding
The Delhi Flood Control Department has reported that the water level in the Yamuna river has fallen to 206.02 meters as of 8 am on Sunday, compared to 207.58 meters on Saturday morning. The situation of waterlogging in low-lying areas of Delhi has improved as the water level slowly recedes. Officials predict that the water level will fall below the danger mark in the next few hours. The Yamuna River had crossed the danger mark of 205.33 meters on July 10.
