During the historic launch of India’s third Moon mission, Chandrayaan-3, an Indigo passenger flying from Chennai to Dhaka had the extraordinary opportunity to witness and capture the view from his window seat. The launch took place on Friday and has provided a significant boost to India’s first human spaceflight program.
The LVM3 rocket, which carried Chandrayaan-3, is a 44.3 metre tall heavy lift launcher of ISRO. It consists of three stages ★solid, liquid, and cryogenic. Scientists at Satish Dhawan Space Centre have confirmed that the LVM3 rocket has the ‘human rated’ capability.
ISRO has re-configured the LVM3 rocket to meet the human rating requirements for the Gaganyaan program. The rocket has been named ‘Human Rated LVM3’ and will play a crucial role in India’s ambitious mission to send humans to space. It will be capable of launching the Orbital Module to a Low Earth Orbit of 400kms.
The LVM3 rocket is designed to achieve a 4,000 kg spacecraft launching capability to the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit. It consists of two solid propellant S200 strap-ons and core stages consisting of L110 liquid stage and C25 cryogenic stage.
