DA Hike Update: Central Government Employees to Get Big Salary Boost
Under the rule of the Seventh Pay Commission, the dearness allowance (DA) of central government employees is increased every six months. Currently, central government employees are receiving 42 percent DA, which is set to increase to 46 percent from July 1, 2021. How the Rule Works
Under the Seventh Pay Commission, a provision has been made that the DA will be made zero when the employee’s DA reaches 50 percent. Additionally, 50 percent of the DA will be added to the basic pay. For instance, an employee with a basic salary of Rs. 18,000 will see their salary increase to Rs. 27,000 after receiving a DA of Rs. 9,000.
Impact on Salaries
At present, the lowest basic salary at Pay-Bad Level-1 is Rs. 18,000. With a 50 percent DA increase, the basic salary will increase to Rs. 27,000. This increase will result in a benefit of Rs. 108,000 annually. The DA hike is good news for central government employees, who will see a significant boost to their salaries.
