DelhiDesk: Several wrestlers were detained by the Delhi Police for violating law and order after they tried to break through the security cordon and proceed towards the new Parliament House for the women’s ‘mahapanchayat’, and the wrestlers’ tents were also removed from Jantar Mantar. Police imposed Section 144 there and said that now the wrestlers will not be allowed to come back there again. Anger is being seen among the wrestlers regarding this action of the police. Some wrestlers, including Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, have vowed to continue their protest against the government’s policies towards athletes and women. The Delhi Police said that they have provided all possible facilities to the wrestlers who have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for the last 38 days but they violated the law despite all requests. They were detained and released till evening.
