Bus hits scooter in Delhi, killing woman and injuring husband in Safdarjung Enclave area.

NEW DELHI: A 58-year-old woman died and her husband was injured after their scooter got hit by a bus in the Safdarjung Enclave area.

A 58-year-old woman named Sharda Devi lost her life in a tragic accident in Safdarjung Enclave. The incident occurred when she and her husband, Chandrabhan, were on their scooter heading to the IGL office in RK Puram.

According to Chandrabhan’s statement to the police, their scooter was hit by a Rajasthan Roadways bus from behind on the Raj Nagar flyover. Sharda Devi fell on the road, and instead of stopping, the bus driver continued to drive the bus, crushing her legs and hands. Despite the efforts of onlookers, the bus driver fled the scene with the offending vehicle.

Commuters at the spot immediately alerted the police, and Sharda Devi was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries. An initial inquiry revealed that the bus driver was speeding, leading to the loss of control and the tragic accident. The driver escaped towards Gurugram.

The police are currently investigating the case and are reviewing CCTV footage from the spot and nearby areas to gather more evidence. A case has been registered under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Safdarjung Enclave police station.

Sharda Devi, the deceased, was a 58-year-old woman who lived with her family in Sadiq Nagar. Her husband, Chandrabhan, had previously worked in the ministry of defense and had retired.

The tragic accident in Safdarjung Enclave has claimed the life of a 58-year-old woman and left her husband injured.
