BJP leader and Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri triggered a controversy by making insensitive remarks about Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), his son KTR, and daughter Kavitha Kalvakuntla.

Controversial remarks at an election rally

During an election rally on Tuesday, Dharmapuri criticized Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) chief KCR and his family in relation to the party’s manifesto for the upcoming state assembly elections.

Dharmapuri claimed that the BRS manifesto promises to provide Rs 5 lakh life insurance to the families of deceased farmers under the KCR Insurance Scheme. He alleged that the manifesto specifies that the insurance will be provided if the age of the deceased farmer is below 56 years. Dharmapuri attacked BRS over this promise and stated that the BJP will give Rs 5 lakh if KCR dies. If KTR (KCR’s son) dies, the amount will be increased to Rs 10 lakh. He further added that he would give Rs 20 lakh if Kavitha (KCR’s daughter) had died.

Responding to Dharmapuri’s comments, Kavitha expressed her disappointment in a video clip and questioned the appropriateness of his remarks. She asked the people of the state to decide if such comments were acceptable and criticized the BJP leader’s use of “unparliamentary” language.

Kavitha condemns the remarks

Kavitha, who is actively involved in politics and is KCR’s daughter, called Dharmapuri’s comments against her unfortunate and highlighted the need to speak out against such remarks if they were made against other people’s daughters.

She urged the people of Telangana to consider the nature of Dharmapuri’s comments and criticized his choice of words.
