Monsoon activity has eased in Uttarakhand and the Char Dham Yatra has restarted. However, authorities warn of challenging road conditions on key pilgrim routes due to repeated landslides and slope failures.
In the past five days rainfall has been about 40% below normal, improving windows for movement. Even so, the network has recorded 149 danger zones across stretches connecting the shrines.
On the Rishikesh–Badrinath axis, roughly 74 hazard spots have been identified where muck clearing is still in progress. The Kedarnath–Gaurikund highway has damage at about 16 locations, affecting direct access to the shrine side.
The Rishikesh–Gangotri highway has also suffered, with more than 29 damaged places listed by officials. While engineering teams are working with earth-moving equipment, intermittent falls are prolonging closures.
Pilgrims are advised to track official traffic updates and be prepared for holds as clearing continues. With monsoon still active in spells, the second leg of journeys can be slower despite improved weather.
