Indian Railway Group C Selections Canceled 🚆
The Ministry of Railways has made a big decision recently. All pending selections for Group C posts in the Indian Railways are canceled. This decision is due to irregularities found in the selection process. If the selection was not finalized by 4 March 2025 and was not approved, it is considered canceled.
Reasons Behind the Cancellation ❌
The Ministry explained that many issues were reported in recent departmental selections. To address these problems, they have decided to review how selections are made. The ministry stated, “No new selection process will be started till further orders. Detailed instructions will be issued soon to control the selection process.”
CBI Investigation Shocks Everyone 🔍
Before this decision, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested 26 officials from East Central Railway in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh. These officials were caught leaking departmental exam papers. During the raids, the CBI recovered ₹1.17 crore in cash, which was allegedly taken from candidates for leaking the question papers.
How the Leak Happened 📜
The CBI found that a Senior DEE (OPS) officer was responsible for preparing the exam questions. He created the questions in English and gave them to a loco pilot for translation into Hindi. The translated paper was then passed to an office supervisor, who shared it with candidates through other railway employees. This was how the question paper leak occurred, leading to the arrest of 17 candidates who were caught with the leaked papers.
In light of these events, the Ministry is taking necessary steps to ensure the integrity of the selection process in the future.
