Ayushman Card Holders in Gujarat to Receive Increased Health Insurance Assistance

Health Department Additional Chief Secretary Manoj Aggarwal, Commissioner Shahmina Hussain, NHM Director Dr. Remya Mohan, and Dr. Jain, who is associated with Ayushman Yojana, were present during the visit of Bajaj Insurance Company to Health Minister Rishikesh Patel’s office in Gandhinagar. The visit was aimed at discussing the Ayushman card and the increased health insurance assistance it provides.
Minister Rishikesh Patel formally issued an Ayushman Card with Rs. 10 lakh insurance assistance after the courtesy visit. He emphasized that the increased insurance support will make highly complex and expensive surgeries, such as heart, kidney, liver, uterus transplants, and cochlear implants, easily accessible to card holders. This assistance will greatly enhance the health and well-being of Ayushman card holder families.
In the meeting with officials of Bajaj Company, health department officials discussed various aspects, including bank integration, real-time data tracking, anti-fraud agency operations, hospital management SOPs, and FAQ preparation. These discussions aim to improve the overall functioning of the Ayushman Yojana and ensure seamless implementation.
Gujarat currently has a total of 2,848 empaneled hospitals, including 2,027 government, 803 private, and 18 central government-run hospitals. Ayushman card holders can avail themselves of 2,471 different health-related procedures and treatments in these hospitals.
It is noteworthy that the Gujarat government has been providing health insurance assistance to its citizens since 2012 under various schemes. The Ayushman card scheme, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018, provides health insurance support of Rs. 5 lakh across the country. The Gujarat government, under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, has now increased the insurance assistance to Rs. 10 lakhs.
