In a major development for India’s railway network, the first 20-coach Vande Bharat train successfully completed its trial run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. This train, known for its speed and efficiency, managed to reach an impressive speed of 130 kilometers per hour during the trial. Ahmedabad to Mumbai Trial: A Successful Run

The 20-coach semi-high-speed train started its journey at 7 AM from Kalupur Railway Station in Ahmedabad. The train made its way through key cities like Vadodara and Surat before reaching Mumbai Central Station at 12:15 PM. For this trial run, four additional C coaches were added to the 14C+2E configuration. Responding to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted that as of July 29, 2024, there are 102 Vande Bharat train services operating across India’s broad gauge electrified network. These trains currently cover distances up to 760 kilometers. When asked whether Vande Bharat trains would replace Rajdhani and other superfast trains, the Minister clarified that the new Vande Bharat services are being introduced without replacing any existing train services.
