Delhi Gets Electric Buses for Remote Areas. 🚍⚡
The Delhi government is launching electric buses in areas where DTC buses do not operate. This new scheme is called ‘Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector’ (Devi). The launch was set for April 22 but was postponed due to national mourning.
Connecting the Unconnected 🌍
Government official Pankaj Singh stated that these electric buses will greatly benefit the people of Delhi. They will reach remote areas lacking bus services, improving connectivity for many residents.
Fighting Pollution Together 🌱
Electric buses are also a step towards reducing pollution in Delhi. As vehicle emissions are a significant problem, the government believes these buses will help clean the air. The plan is to gradually convert all buses into electric ones, starting with a few and increasing every month or so.
Moving Towards a Developed India 🇮🇳
The initiative supports Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘developed India.’ The government aims to provide better public transport facilities while promoting environmental protection. As CNG buses phase out, electric buses will take their place.
Launch Date Postponed ⏳
The launch of the nine-meter electric buses under the ‘Devi’ scheme has been delayed due to the death of Pope Francis. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced this on social media and promised that a new date will be shared soon.
