In a significant stride toward global expansion, Amul, India’s iconic dairy cooperative, has officially launched Amul fresh milk in Spain through a strategic partnership with Cooperativa Ganadera del Valle de los Pedroches (COVAP). The collaboration marks Amul’s entry into the European fresh dairy market for the first time in its history.

The launch ceremony took place at the Embassy of India in Madrid, graced by the presence of Ambassador Dinesh K Patnaik, Spanish Agriculture Ministry officials, COVAP President Ricardo Delgado Vizcaino, and senior executives from Amul and its Spanish distribution partners.

A Cooperative Alliance Bridging India and Spain’s Dairy Ecosystems

Amul, a farmer-owned cooperative representing 3.6 million dairy farmers, is the world’s strongest dairy brand and India’s largest consumer goods brand with a turnover of over USD 11 billion. With a daily milk handling capacity of 42 million litres across 112 processing plants, Amul ranks as the 8th largest global milk processor.

COVAP, founded in 1959 in Pozoblanco, Córdoba, is a highly reputed first-tier Spanish cooperative with over 2,000 active farmer-members. Their state-of-the-art dairy facility processes more than 400 million litres of milk annually and exports to over 30 countries, including the US, UK, and several Asian markets.

Amul Milk to Be Available in Key Spanish and Portuguese Cities

Under this new alliance, Amul Milk will initially be rolled out in Madrid and Barcelona, with expansion planned for Malaga, Valencia, Alicante, Seville, Cordoba, and Lisbon (Portugal) in the coming months. The brand also eyes future launches in Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, solidifying its European presence.
