The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, a significant project aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and reducing travel time, is making substantial progress.

Spanning a total of 82 kilometers, this corridor promises to revolutionize the way people commute in the National Capital Region (NCR). Here’s an insight into the latest developments, particularly focusing on the Delhi section of the corridor.

Progress on the Delhi Section

The Delhi portion of the RRTS corridor, stretching over 14 kilometers, has seen considerable advancements with the construction of three major stations: Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, and Anand Vihar (underground), taking shape. Alongside, the viaduct construction is in its final stages, nearing completion.

Station Finishing Works in Progress

The Delhi stretch comprises 9 kilometers of elevated and 5 kilometers of underground sections. The underground part has already been completed, with about 8 kilometers of the elevated viaduct finished, leaving only a kilometer to go. The focus is now on the finishing touches at all stations.

Anticipation for Trial Runs

Officials expect the track to be nearly complete in the next five to six months, with trial runs anticipated to commence in seven to eight months. These stations will be integrated with other modes of transport under a multi-modal integration plan, enhancing accessibility and convenience for passengers.

This integration aims to connect RRTS stations with bus stations, airports, metro stations, and railway stations wherever possible.
