Railways Arranges 63 Lakh Berths for Festival Season

New Delhi ★The Railway Ministry has made arrangements for 63 lakh berths (seats) to accommodate passengers traveling during the festival season. As part of this initiative, the Railways is operating around 4500 special trains, with the majority of them running from Jaipur, Mumbai, and Delhi to various cities across the country. In order to ensure the safety and security of passengers, help booths and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have been deployed at major railway stations.

A senior official from the Railway Ministry stated that over 4480 special trains are being operated during the festival season. Out of these, 1262 special trains are running from the Western Railway (Mumbai), connecting passengers to destinations in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa, West Bengal, Kerala, and other states.

North Western Railway (Jaipur) is running 1208 special trains to Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Additionally, special trains are being operated between cities like Kolkata, Chennai, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Delhi, Jammu, and Secunderabad.

Arrangement for Unreserved Ticket Passengers

Apart from the special trains, the Railways has increased its capacity by adding additional coaches to popular regular trains and increasing the frequency of regular trains. Additional AC-3, sleeper, and general coaches have been installed to accommodate more passengers. Unreserved ticket passengers arriving at the station will be directed to a designated area, avoiding overcrowding at the station premises. Announcements will be made regarding train departures.

Currently, there are approximately 12 lakh berth-seats available in 3,500 regular long-distance trains. However, more than two lakh passengers travel on waiting and RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) tickets. With the addition of extra coaches, the number of waiting and confirmed RAC tickets will increase.
