Toll Collection through FASTags to be Streamlined: Mandatory KYC by January 31, 2024
In an effort to streamline toll collection through FASTags, the government has announced that FASTags with incomplete KYC will be blacklisted by banks after January 31, 2024. This means that users who have not completed their KYC for Fastag will face difficulties in paying toll tax and may face problems while traveling. To avoid this inconvenience, it is advised to complete the KYC for Fastag before the deadline.
The National Highway Authority of India has launched the “One Vehicle One Fastag” campaign to emphasize the importance of completing the KYC for Fastags. Under this campaign, only the latest Fastag account will remain active. Users can contact the nearest toll plaza or the toll-free customer care number of their respective issuing banks for further assistance or queries.
FASTag has revolutionized electronic toll collection in India, with a penetration rate of 98 percent and more than 8 crore users. However, there have been instances where multiple FASTags have been issued for the same vehicle without completing the KYC process. To address this issue, the government has made it mandatory to complete the KYC for Fastags before January 31, 2024. This initiative aims to improve the overall experience of driving on the National Highway.
