Indian conglomerate, Anil Agarwal’s Vedanta Ltd. plans to invest INR 5,000 crore ($670 million) in the next fiscal year to expand its metals and mining business. The company aims to increase its zinc-lead-silver and oil-and-gas output, and also plans to venture into the jewelry business. Vedanta is targeting to sell around 500 tonnes of silver in the first year of operations and is also planning to introduce gold jewelry. The company has already secured approvals for setting up stores in Mumbai and Delhi.

Aditya Birla Group to venture into new businesses, takes on Tata

Aditya Birla Group, one of India’s largest business conglomerates, is planning to enter new businesses and take on rival Tata Group. The group is reportedly exploring opportunities in consumer goods, health care, and artificial intelligence. It has also announced plans to launch a digital platform that will offer a range of services, including financial products. The move is expected to help the company expand its footprint in the rapidly growing digital economy.
