TCS Sees More Resignations from Women Employees After End of Work From Home

India’s largest IT services firm, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has seen a surge in the number of women employees resigning after the end of its work from home policy. The company had introduced the policy during the Covid-19 pandemic, but had been in discussions about ending it for several months.

Reasons for Resignations

TCS HR head Milind Lakkad stated that while there could be other reasons for the resignations, the end of work from home was the most visible one. He added that women generally have fewer resignations than men, but this trend has been reversed due to the end of the policy.

Number of Employees and Resignations

According to reports, TCS has around 600,000 employees, of which 35 percent are women. During the last financial year, 20 percent of TCS employees resigned.

Impact of Work From Home

TCS’ experience highlights the impact of work from home policies on employee retention, particularly for women. The pandemic has accelerated the adoption of remote work, but companies will need to carefully consider the implications of ending such policies on their workforce.
