The demand for electric vehicles in India is growing quickly, especially for electric two-wheelers. Bajaj Auto has recently achieved a significant milestone with its electric scooter, the Bajaj Chetak.
Since its launch in January 2020, the Bajaj Chetak has sold over 5 lakh units. This is a huge achievement for the company, and it shows how popular electric scooters have become in the market.
Initially, the sales of Chetak were slow, but starting from the financial year 2024, the demand surged dramatically. In FY2024, around 1,15,702 units were dispatched, and in FY2025, sales reached an impressive 2,60,033 units, which is 125% more than the previous year.
Currently, the Chetak is available in four models, featuring two battery options: a 3kWh pack that offers a range of 127 km and a 3.5kWh pack that provides up to 153 km on a single charge. The starting price for the Chetak is ₹99,999, going up to ₹1.35 lakh for the top model.
In the first five months of FY2026, Chetak has already sold 88,916 units, reflecting a 7% year-on-year growth. With such impressive numbers, Bajaj is set to continue its strong performance in the electric scooter market.
