The much-awaited Noida International Airport is set to be inaugurated on October 30. Civil Aviation Minister Kishan Ramu Naidu announced that within 45 days of its launch, flight services will begin to 10 major cities across India. This will significantly boost connectivity for residents of Delhi-NCR and surrounding regions.
During an event on the occasion of Vishwakarma Diwas, the minister confirmed that in its first phase, the airport will operate flights to major hubs like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, and other prominent destinations. This expansion is expected to decongest Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and offer passengers more travel options.
Expansion Plans for Hindon Airport
Alongside the Noida airport project, Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad is also undergoing major upgrades.
-
The terminal building has been expanded to handle increased passenger traffic.
-
Currently, the airport operates flights to 16 cities, and the number is expected to grow further after the upgrade.
-
The state government has allocated additional land to create dedicated parking bays for aircraft, resolving space constraints during peak flight operations.
The minister highlighted that the new facilities will include free Wi-Fi, better waiting areas, a library, and a play zone for children, ensuring a comfortable and modern travel experience.
Impact on Regional Connectivity
The opening of Noida International Airport will:
-
Reduce passenger load at Delhi’s primary airport.
-
Provide direct connectivity to key cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
-
Boost tourism and business travel for Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states.
-
Create a seamless network between Hindon and Noida airports, ensuring smoother operations and better flight scheduling.
