The interstate bus service by DTC, which has been inactive for 15 years, is set to resume. The Delhi government will re-launch this service during a special fortnight that starts on September 17, which is also Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

On September 23 at 11 am, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will officially start the DTC buses on the Delhi-Barot (UP) route from ISBT Kashmiri Gate. This route is the first to be reintroduced as part of the plan to revive interstate bus services.

The DTC will also begin services to other cities like Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Agra, Ayodhya, Dehradun, and more. Initially, three air-conditioned electric buses will operate on the Delhi-Barot route, running two shifts in the morning and evening.

Here are some key points to note:

  • Air-conditioned electric buses will serve shorter routes up to 200 km.
  • Longer routes will have CAG buses.
  • The buses will be 12 meters long and fully air-conditioned.

In the near future, DTC plans to buy more comfortable AC buses with extra seating for longer journeys. More routes will be added soon, enhancing intercity travel options for passengers.

  • DTC’s interstate bus service is restarting after 15 years.

  • Launch date is September 23, starting with the Delhi-Barot route.

  • Initial buses will be air-conditioned electric vehicles.

  • Service will operate in two shifts, morning and evening.
