Delhi Kashmir Vande Bharat Express First Vande Bharat From Delhi To Kashmir Ready. Train Will Start From 6 June. All Set To Go.

In a historic development for the Kashmir Valley, India is all set to introduce its first Vande Bharat Express specifically designed to operate in the harsh climatic and geographical conditions of the region. Sources indicate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit Jammu and Kashmir between June 6 and 8, during which he is likely to flag off the valley’s inaugural Vande Bharat service.

Part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link, Symbolizing Connectivity and National Integration

The new Vande Bharat Express will run on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), marking a milestone in Indian Railways’ efforts to connect the region through fast, safe, and reliable transport. It is considered a significant technological and national achievement, ensuring year-round connectivity through a terrain often cut off due to extreme winters.

The PM’s previously planned visit to Jammu and Kashmir on April 19 had to be postponed due to inclement weather.

Designed for Tough Terrain: Enhanced Safety and Comfort with Special Heating Pads and Defogging Systems

According to senior railway officials, the train’s design complies with semi-high-speed specifications (160 kmph) and includes wide gangways, automatic plug doors, infotainment systems, and mobile charging sockets.

Importantly, the train comes equipped with silicone heating pads—an innovation to prevent freezing of coach water tanks and bio-toilets when temperatures fall below zero. This feature ensures uninterrupted water supply and operational hygiene even in sub-zero conditions.

Prepared for Kashmir’s Unique Challenges

The train has been specially modified by Indian Railways to handle the complex geography and extreme climate of the Kashmir Valley. Custom features include vibration-resistant mechanisms, sealed gangways, and reinforced undercarriages that support high-altitude operation and steep gradients.

Clear Visibility in Freezing Fog: Windshield Heating and Anti-Fog Glass for Safe Driving

To enhance operational safety, the Vande Bharat’s driver cabin is equipped with embedded heating elements in the windshield and lookout glass, which help maintain visibility during heavy snowfall and fog. These additions ensure clear navigation and safety for both the train operator and passengers.
