The picturesque Naini Lake in Model Town, North Delhi, is set to receive a grand facelift. As per recent announcements by Delhi’s Development and Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra, the lake will soon be transformed into a modern leisure and tourism hub, complete with world-class attractions and upgraded infrastructure.
Minister Mishra visited the lake on Monday and unveiled an ambitious beautification and development plan, which includes a musical fountain, pneumatic wave generator, and a laser light show to attract both residents and tourists.

To enrich the visitor experience, the government plans to introduce shikara boats with LED lighting, racing boats, water scooters, and floating cafés and business kiosks. Seating arrangements for groups of 15–20 people will be developed, allowing families and tourists to enjoy the serene environment.
According to the plan, special evening shows like Deepawali-themed events and bird shows during the winter months will also be organized, turning Naini Lake into a seasonal hotspot for cultural and natural tourism.

As part of the lake’s renovation, a massive musical fountain that is 20 feet high and 30 feet wide will be installed. This will be supported by pneumatic systems designed to create artificial wave patterns, giving the lake a dynamic and mesmerizing look.
The lighting systems and sound arrangements will be synced to ensure a laser and music spectacle never seen before in this part of the city.

Speaking at the event, Kapil Mishra stated that this project would serve as a model for the redevelopment of other lakes in Delhi, combining tourism, environment, and leisure. The plan was praised by local MLA Ashok Goel and senior tourism officials present during the announcement.
“This initiative is not just about beautification,” Mishra said, “but also about boosting Delhi’s eco-tourism and local economy.”
