After the successful launch of Bihar’s first Namo Bharat (formerly Vande Metro) train between Patna and Jaynagar, Indian Railways is now planning to introduce this semi-high-speed service on another route from Patna to either Gaya or Buxar. The feasibility of operating the train on both routes is currently under assessment.
🛤️ Rake Utilization Behind Expansion Plan
The current Patna–Jaynagar Namo Bharat train reaches Patna Junction by 10 AM and departs for Jaynagar around 6 PM, leaving the rake idle for nearly 8 hours at the station. This idle window has triggered demands to utilize the train for an additional trip during the day on another route.
According to railway sources, operating the same rake from Patna to Buxar or Gaya during this downtime is being seriously considered. A final decision is yet to be made and will depend on operational ease and passenger demand.

Danapur Division ADRM Aadhaar Raj said,
“We are examining the feasibility of operating the Namo Bharat train between Patna and Buxar or Gaya during its idle hours. The route that proves more convenient and feasible will be selected.”
